Vestry
The vestry is the legal representative of the parish with regard to all matters pertaining to its corporate property. The number of vestry members and the term of office varies from parish to parish. Vestry members are usually elected at the annual parish meeting. The presiding officer of the vestry is the rector. There are usually two wardens. The senior warden leads the parish between rectors and is a support person for the rector. The junior warden often has responsibility for church property and buildings. A treasurer and a secretary or clerk may be chosen. These officers may or may not be vestry members. The basic responsibilities of the vestry are to help define and articulate the mission of the congregation; to support the church’s mission by word and deed, to select the rector, to ensure effective organization and planning, and to manage resources and finances

I have been a member of St. Luke's since 1987, confirmed in 1988, and married in the church in 1998. I began to play a role in church governance in 1995 when I was first elected to our delegation to that years's diocesan convention, and have represented St. Luke's at 18 conventions since then. I have also served as subdean and acting dean of this deanery, and as a member of both the Diocesan Executive Committee and Finance Committee.

Ian Wilson
I have been a lifelong Episcopalian. I have, however, only been attending St. Luke's for the past three years. In that time, I have volunteered at our Food Pantry regularly, assisted with the Thursday lunches as needed, been a lay reader, and just helped where I can as the need has arisen. Currently, I am enrolled at Tarleton. My major is bio-medical sciences, and I have minors in chemistry and English. Within our campus ministry, I have held offices of secretary and vice president. In that capacity, I have helped to begin the process of rebuilding our collegiate programming as we recover from the COVID epidemic. We returned to tabling on campus; regularly represent St. Luke's at events such as the street dance; we began the Pop-up Food Pantry: and most recently, we added a prayer service following the UR Loved Library. I was also elected by my fellow Tarleton students to represent St. Luke's at the Diocesan Convention, where my fellow collegiate delegates led by my friend Allison helped institute the more efficient and more inclusive use of gender-neutral pronouns in the language of the Episcopal Canons.
